Elizabeth Wurst is momentarily working on performance series that she defines as "Pop - Aktivismus".
The earliest manifestations have already appeared in shows in Barcelona and Berlin.
The intention is to engage the viewers through emotional pop-songs. These mainstream hits are taken out of their context and used in an activist way in public spaces to address political and social issues. You can see some of the actions here!

A found object - a submerged shopping trolley - is taken out of the
river and brought again into the supermarket as a subversive action.

Videoperformance "Philadelphia Museum of Art - I wanna get there"

Objets trouvés à la Duchamp, ironically find me
on my way to the Art Museum - a bunch of balloons
in the garbage. I take them and continue my journey to
the Philadelphia Museum of Art, in order to see Duchamps works.

The video aims to an ambiguity between the elegance and sophistication of the sparkling image and the grotesque act of dribbling and slobbering.
The saliva starts to slowly drip down as the mouth remains open, the tongue of a woman, covered in glitter.

"Elizabeth Wurst has worked for three years in performance and consistently
calls for direct participation in her interventions.

Frequently this is disconcerting for her audience, which often, unintentionally,
or even reluctantly, becomes protagonist.The artist investigates how far the
participating viewer will go, what boundaries he is prepared to overstep.

In her Sperrmüll Performances (actions in bulky household waste) she joins
these things, objectlike, inserting her body into the image, adjusting herself
to the objects, crawling into wardrobes or lying on discarded matresses.
She composes a still life and asks passersby to film her as she does so."

Exhibition "Performance //Frame", Galerie Anita Beckers, Frankfurt am Main

The videopiece "Private Construction" shows the interaction between the artist, dressed in a clown-like blue dress and an object in the same color. It is constructed out of two pieces of wood, which she randomly picked up from household waste. She aims to an investigation of the dynamic processes that happen between the subject and the object and how to annulate this separation,
so that the boundaries get blurry.
She is also interested in giving discarded objects a new use and a new function, in a way to recycle them through actions. In this case, she persistently tries to match and fit with her body the form of the object, but constantly fails in the attempt.
The absurdity of the clothes and the laid-back attitude of the performer give the failure a rather light and uncomplicated quality.
